Okay. So.
I have a bunch of muffin mixes in the cabinet. You only add water - no need for milk or even eggs. The boys have gotten tired of them, I think. They SAY they like them... but no matter who bakes them, they don't get eaten.
So, I've been trying to use them in other ways, and that really seems to help. Things like adding peanut butter.
Well, this week's experiement was crazy good.
I combined a package of muffin mix... and a can of fruit thingytail. Each sack of muffin mix only makes six muffins, so I doubled it. (Two sacks of muffin mix and two cans of fruit thingytail). I mixed it together and baked it in a 9" pan.
Good gracious! It's kind of like a dump cake/cobbler, but SO tasty! The entire recipe was eaten in about 12 hours, and one son said he didn't even get to try it.
I only had the fruit thingytail because it was marked down really low on clearance. But this was good enough to make "on purpose."

What exactly is fruit thingytail? Have mercy, that's hilarious. I forgot about the profantiy filter. It's that canned fruit salad - fruitcôcktail (maybe that will slip through).

Once the filter caught me in a word I had NO IDEA was used for off-color purposes. I can't recall what the word was, now, but I remember I had to go look it up to find out what the naughty meaning was.

At first I thought you were going to say you made pancakes from the muffin mixes. Cobbler sounds wonderful! Great use for a food item they were getting bored with.

I also did this the other day... with...
Half cherry pie filling and half lemon pie filling. I have halves of each can left over after feeding the youth dinner last night. I figured why not try it. I mixed them, then put the muffin mix on top like a dump cake. I wasn't sure about the moisture, so I melted a little coconut oil and poured that over time (my mom used to melt a stick of butter in her dump cake pan - I didn't use that much, maybe 1/4 cup). I tasted it to see how it came out and the flavor wasn't bad. The kids must have truly liked it because they ate the ENTIRE thing (9" square pan).
