I'm so sorry to hear about your DD1. Happy, though, that DD2 is getting married. Once the wedding is over you need to rest and take care of yourself. I'm having a knee replacement on June 8th so having to get ready for that. Have to get surgery clearance from my cardiologist and my family practice dr. Those appointments are middle of May. Also have to attend a one hour class on joint replacement on May 4th. Rest of this month I'm just going to be messing around in the garden as my knee and heart allows. I bought more plants yesterday so I'll be planting those today. Also got more chicks since my egg business is doing so well.
New chicks are so exciting! Keep us updated on your knee replacement, Ginakay. I will pray for your surgery to go well.
My mother-in-law died unexpectedly about a week after dd2's bridal shower. Then a week later, was the wedding in Gatlinburg. Life has been a blur the last several weeks. The wedding was beautiful, though, and we enjoyed getting away for the trip. It has been years since we took a family vacation of any kind. We didn't have time to shop or see attractions, but we did get to visit with family we hadn't seen in a long time. The weather was absolutely perfect the whole time!
Dd1 and I plan to rest some and get the house tidied up now that dd2 is married and out. I'm looking forward to taking some time for self care and more Bible study.
Rebekah, I've had to postpone the surgery. We don't have insurance but belong to a health share (Samaritan Ministries) so I'm considered self pay. The surgery was going to be done at a Baylor Scott & White hospital. I had my torn meniscus repaired and dh had two hernia repairs there and those times they just asked what could we afford to put down. Two months after the surgeries we'd get checks to pay off the bill. The lady called to pre-register me and said that with a 40% discount for being self pay the total cost is $64,000 and they require $30,000 down! That's for the procedure, anesthesiologist, surgeon, one night in the hospital and 6 months of follow-up visits. I would have to get an advance on the shares for the downpayment and Samaritan is reluctant to do since they feel that is not a fair price. They have a Healthcare Blue Book concierge free service to find fair prices and said there are many facilities within 45 minutes of us that do the procedure for $27,000-$30,000 total. So I'm waiting for them to email me the list of places & I'll choose one.
I had to get a new phone because the Great Pyrenees puppies got hold of mine and chewed it badly! I made the mistake of having all my passwords in the note app in the phone so when I couldn't get into my phone I had to re-do all my passwords & usernames.

Oh Gina, I'm so sorry to hear that. It seems healthcare is more about money now instead of helping people who need healing! We had that problem with DD1's gallbladder surgery. They wanted so much money down before they would even do the surgery! We had to switch doctors and have it done at a different hospital.
It's been 17 days since the surgery. According to the surgeon's PA last Thursday the 8" incision is healing well but my range of motion isn't quite where it should be at this point. I had to cancel my initial PT appointment because it had rained so much and I couldn't walk in the mud to get from house to car. I just did the PT exercises I was given by the therapist at the hospital. Now I need to start going to PT and have an appointment on the 15th (this coming week). In the mean time I'll double up on the stretching exercises. The place I had the initial appointment at was at our local hospital (there is no other PT in town) and was charging $100 a session. The new place is in another town about 15 miles from here so not too far and charges $75 per session. I'm just watching dh work himself to the bone and feeling helpless. Reading, watching tv, handsewing, and napping a lot. I wake up about every 2 hrs throughout the night so tired a lot.
Dh opened up the garden to the horses and goats. Way too early but it wasn't doing well at all. Early in the season we got so much rain that parts of the garden was totally submerged for days.
Gina, I have another friend who had knee replacement surgery the same day as you. She's had some trouble with her range of motion as well, due to pain, and is having to stretch more often.
The transmission went out on dh's car. It will cost $4K to replace it. We still owe on his car, too. It's a big blow and we're trying to figure out what to do. He has to take Dd1 out of state for more testing in just a few days, which means he'll have to take my car and leave me without transportation for a week while they are gone. I'm trying to pray about it instead of cry, but it's not easy.
Even though I'm losing weight, the swelling is still bad and hinders me from doing much. Not sure what God is trying to teach me but I hope to learn it quickly and get through this season in life!
The newlyweds are doing well. I get to see them about once a week. It's always good to visit.
My range of motion is getting better with PT 3 times a week and doing the exercises and moving around a lot between the therapy sessions. This last weekend my sister and I went to Austin to see my grandkids. My dd had admitted herself into a psych hospital so they didn't come down here as planned, and I wanted to see Naomi & Kai before Naomi flew back up to Nebraska today. My sis drove so I was able to stretch my leg out. We spent the night there and had Naomi with us (she's 16). So with all the walking we did around the hotel, going up and down curbs, and getting in and out of the car I used that leg a lot. I did a few of the exercises prescribed but my therapist said my range of motion had improved. My straightening is at 17% whereas last Friday it was 19%. Flexing is at 91% with pain, 90% without pain.

Hi! I really need to check in more. Work had been a bit slow so I definitely have time to check in. 🤦♀️
My oldest turned 25 last month and the twins will be seniors this year. I feel faint whenever I think about it. I'm living my non at the Bass Pro call center. Oldest baby can be back on my insurance until he turns 26. Whew! Considering he needs Xarelto at about $500 a month, yeah! My mutant's super power is racking up hospital bills. Between instance and the financial assistance from the manufacturer, he's paying $10.
Well, I'm off to bed. Saturdays are slow and if I don't want to fall asleep at my desk I need sleep tonight. LOL
