I'm going to try to keep this short and sweet.
Dust.
This is the fourth home we've lived in (in case it matters). One was built in 1910-1912 (Texas), one in the 1920's (Florida), one in 1998 (Texas). This house (Alabama) was built in 1980.
i have never, ever, ever had issues with dust like this in any home I lived in - apartment or house, up north or here or California - like we do here. If I think of it, I'll take pictures to show you.
Now, I am not the best housekeeper. But this is because I'm doing anything different compared with other houses.
We recently had to have some work done on our HVAC, and I insisted we upgrade the filtration because of mold (it's not toxic mold, just prevalent - I had an inspector come out) and DUST. It will take a bit before we can see the improvement. (We used the old filters, but they just weren't helping. The ductwork was leaky which probably made things worse - it's all been repaired now.)
But it really struck me yesterday. I was helping DS2 take out big things for "trash amnesty day" (i.e., put your big junk at the curb & they'll take it). I realized there are things I have stored in the garage that I carefully wrapped to avoid dust... yet NOTHING has dust on it out there. That reinforces for me it has been the HVAC system.
Tradiutional dusting doesn't help. Within a week, it would be clearly back just as BAD. It's household dust, too - that fine, white-ish stuff. Has anyone else dealt with this before?
Thoughts? I will post pictures later. It's CRAZY.
