Well, I got a case of the stupids yesterday. I called and made a doctor's appointment because it turns out I am allergic to my socks. It caused a major eczema outbreak on my feet which feels like an acetylene torch being applied to the tops of my feet. I decided to walk because Ryan had been out the day before and said the sidewalks weren't icy. Well, unbeknownst to me, sleet fell during the night, and it was indeed icy and sure enough, I fell flat on my keester. By the time my doctor's appointment was over, ice was falling hard and fast and when I called for the senior bus, they were closed due to icy dangerous roads. So I called a friend, and she called the church and someone was there with a four wheel drive and snow tires who came and got me and got me home. No damage, just very sore and hard to bend over or get up and down from chairs or bed. So I am not even going out to the mailbox; that is Ryan's job in his heavy boots! My brother ordered me to open my kitchen sink and bathroom taps as it is supposed to get even colder. He was going to drive all the way here to bring a heat lamp for my pipes down in the crawlspace, but I ordered him to stay off the roads! So other than cooking and dishes, I am only resting today with a heating pan on my bum.

Good afternoon, Ladies. Well I am having a forced day of rest here too. The heater is broken, so I am chilly. Which increases my pain levels. I can handle that. Then late last night the city sent out a do not use water alert. The problem is not bacterial, it is chemical, which means boiling will not help. The order states only use water for landscape watering and flushing commodes. Do not use it for dishes, cooking, bathing, or laundry. Culligan called, even my ro water is covered by the alert. So MJ and I went to HEB, who had water shipped in from San Antonio, with trucks arriving all night and today, to make sure they do not run out of water. Sam's and Walmart, at least some of the Walmart's already have run out. We took some to my grandbabies too. My son will go get a rental car with his dad today. So I will put away my load of laundry and vacuum and cuddle in a blanket and read. Dinner will be nuke friendly items eaten off paper plates and with plastic utensils, which I bought when we left and got water.

Gracious, ladies! Merrileem, I'm glad Rya is helpful.
Mel, how awful. I'm so glad you could go get water. Do they know how long it will be a problem?
I'm just working my way through the day. I managed to get outside for two ten-minute walks.

Sandra, they said 24-48 hours last night. The extreme north of tow has been cleared, we live on the extreme south side. Which is where the smell was originally commented on... Saturday night. It took until last night for the city to take action.
