Beth- I love Colombo! I've not done much crafting lately. Well, haven't done much crafting in about a year after an unfortunate incident in the family. Slowly getting back into it. Too hot for knitting or crochet, so doing some paper craft. Angie- time to stitch is always a silver lining! It has been hot, hot, hot. Even right now, at 7 in the morning. It is 80 degrees out and feels like 84 with the heat index. Will only go up. The ac can't keep up. It is set at 72 and it is 74 in the house. The kids rooms are almost complete. We ran out of paint and the boys room needs another coat. DH has been dragging his toes going to get another can. As soon as he does, we'll finish up that room. DD15 has been setting her room up, but she is being a little slow about it. Not a big deal. I'd rather she take her time than just throw things in drawers. We'll find out Monday what the school situation is going to be. The district has come up with 4 phases and my thinking is that we will either be phase 1 or 2. With phase 1, everyone but preschool does online learning. With phase 2, k-5 goes to school part time (2 days a week, rest online) and everyone else does online. Other than that, not much going on here. I've got house projects to do and very little motivation. lol. Missing our beach vacation this year

Jennilee, setting up the room is the best part! Here they are setting up a rolling school thing and kids can choose between going to physical school or online learning. I am hoping this mess gives parents a good taste for homeschooling. Not depending on the substandard public schools many seem stuck in. Though i am afraid in some places, kids will be unschooled more than they already are.

Hi ladies! How are all of you doing? I'm doing pretty well. Hooked up to a heart monitor (small thing stuck to my chest....no wires) to see just how bad the arrhythmia is. Will be hooked to it for 2 weeks. It is hot here so I have to stay indoors. Sweat makes the adhesive on the monitor to loosen.

Hello ladies!! I've been missing being here! I must confess I'm struggling with learning the new site. One of my sons got a new laptop and gifted me his old one, which is not old at all. So, I've been able to pop in the last few days much easier. I've been reading through the threads to see what all's been going on.
Gina, being hooked up to a heart monitor for 2 weeks doesn't sound like much fun....

FV, we don't have internet service so it's iffy on whether or not I can get internet on my phone in the house and it's been way too hot for me to go sit outside. I think the intense sun during the day interferes with the connection since it's difficult to get TV reception with the outdoor antenna. The heart monitor is less hassle than the one I wore 10 yrs ago. That one was like an EKG (leads & wires) connected to a box I wore. This is just a small (about 3") plastic thing stuck to my chest and secured with adhesive. Only problem is that sweat loosens the adhesive so I have to reinforce it with medical tape.

Hello, hello! I dropped off the face of the internet for a while. I'm finding all the crazy in the world hard to deal with emotionally and need to step away a lot. Nothing much exciting is happening here. I started stitching a baby sampler for my brother's baby who is due at the end of October. My adopted needlework shop is running behind by 3 weeks - just to start processing an order - so I'm praying the floss I need arrives next month and I can finish in time.

Gina, I hope you are feeling better.
Today is low-key. I've been off work since March and yesterday cleared out my classroom at school. I will not be returning to my job. So many changes and new rules due to the virus situation, plus my health issues, have made it impossible now. I'm sad, but am taking more time to draw closer to God. It's time for a new season, and I'm excited to see what lies ahead. Whatever happens, his plans for me are good and I have to keep believing that.

Rebekah, sometimes it's hard to accept the new phase of our lives even though we know God knows what's best for us. Dh & I are having to go from 12 1/2 acres down to 3 1/2 or 4 acres because the judge says his family can sell the remaining acreage. That means condensing our animals & gardens and getting new neighbors right up against us. I'm adjusting to it better than dh because it's his aunts, uncles and cousins doing this to us. I'm feeling somewhat better physically. My echocardiogram came back "abnormal but stable" according to his nurse or receptionist. I go back to see him on the 15th and find out then exactly what that means and the results of the monitor. My blood sugar is staying around 130 so still up. I've been drinking a lot of Sparkling Ice (carbonated flavored water). It's sugar free but has sucralose so 3-4 a day may be bringing it up. But my weight has gone way down. Okay, I'll tell the numbers since I'm going down & not up. Around 6 weeks ago I was 235-240lbs and now I'm 219.

Gina, I'm so sorry about the judge's ruling and how that is playing out. I know you were hoping for a better outcome. Glad you've been able to lose weight. Good for you! I've found that the Sparkling Ice made me want sweet stuff more for some reason, so now I drink water with some lemon and it helps. Sometimes I drink herbal tea and use Stevia for the sweetener and that works.

Dh bought me a brand new car Wednesday. It's a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Our truck keeps having problems and he wanted me to have reliable transportation, especially with my health issues. I need to be able to get to the dr or hospital and I need ac and the truck's ac was out. I'm at work this afternoon until 4 and I work all day this coming Monday. It feels like Fall and I love the cooler temps, even if it is in the low 80's. Humidity is lower also. I've been able to spend more time outside feeding the animals.

Hello!
Sorry to have been MIA. Was going through a rough patch and could keep up with only so much.
Let's see:
Kids got moved into their "new" rooms. Last weekend I got fed up with DD16 (she's had a birthday since I last posted!). Her room was a mess! And it had been since they had changed rooms. So, while she was at grandma's, I cleaned it! I only threw away obvious trash and everything else was just put in her desk or where it belonged. Put clothes in her hamper (ugh! That was what got me the most). It looks so much better and she admitted as much. Told her if I ever have to do that again (I kept telling her to at least pick up the clothes) everything I picked up would just go in the trash. The boys have been very good about keeping their room straight.
The school district decided to be 100% virtual. On the one hand I like it and on the other hand I don't, but it is what it is. I would homeschool if not for the fact we live close to family who can't seem to keep their noses out of our business and think they get a say in things. That said, it has only been two weeks and so far things are going well.
My house is driving me crazy as it is in complete disarray. I am slowing adding things in to get it cleaned up. There are some extenuating circumstances that are making it impossible to keep some areas as clean as I would like and I am trying really, really hard to let it go. It is extremely hard.
It has finally cooled off here, so I am definitely enjoying that. I will enjoy it even more when we are in the 60's daily. That will be wonderful! Although I do need to venture to the thrift store and get some fall clothes.
I think that is all from me right now!

Hey Jennilee. I get that about the relatives, we had a similar situation. So far this morning it is cloudy. My pain level is down some and my energy is up so I plan to do stuff while I can. My sister is coming down Tuesday with her Beloved. Wednesday will be yard work, Thursday grocery shopping and Friday cooking and freezing meals. They leave on Saturday. My house looks like a bomb went off. I had my grandsons for 3 days this week and then so much pain I couldn't tackle things. Today I finally feel better so before and after virtual church, things will get done!

I stayed home from church today because of asthma. Although everyone has to wear masks at church I think people would freak hearing my cough. I'm doing much better. Tropical Storm Beta is supposed to go into south Texas tonight or tomorrow. We are predicted to get only around 3" of rain and hardly any wind since we are about 2 hrs from the coast. Looks like we may get rain now. I just hung a load of laundry on the line.

Stay safe, Gina! I can't believe we are up to the Greek alphabet list on storms already this year. And we still have almost two months of hurricane season left! Glad your asthma is doing better!
