Yesterday my dh and I celebrated our anniversary. Instead of going out to a fancy restaurant, we got meals to go from a local diner and my dh set up a projector to his laptop. He had baked steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a biscuit. I had spinach stuffed chicken, bacon-wrapped asparagus, and a salad. The food was so delicious and everything cost less than $30. The movie was free online. We would have spent more than that at a fancy place, plus we didn't have to add a tip. The bigger, well-known restaurants are at least a 30-minute drive from here, so we saved money on gas by supporting a local place only 2 miles away. We watched an old black-and-white romantic comedy with Cary Grant. It was such a wonderful evening! We could have saved $$ by cooking at home, but frankly, it was nice to splurge a bit this time. I really enjoyed this wedding anniversary very much.
Dd1's birthday is tomorrow. Her present will be an online $25 gift card that I earned with reward points through our insurance company. It didn't cost me anything to be a safe driver. LOL!
For Christmas, I saved cards and wrapping paper from last year and will use those up before purchasing new.

That sounds like a wonderful anniversary celebration! I'm so glad y'all enjoyed yourselves! I think sometimes a splurge meal is a good thing. And yay for free gift cards! Happy (late) Anniversary!

We had a pleasant surprise this morning. I gave dd1 her free gift card code, only to find that I had earned another $5 on my rewards, so she gets $30 for shopping online instead of $25. She is overjoyed!

We have just an antenna on top of the house to watch tv. There’s a channel we pick up called Movies! and it’s all old movies. Yesterday we watched “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane”. On Veterans Day they showed old war movies. Today is all John Wayne movies I believe.
