Last night at Trader Joe's was another 😲🤯 experience at checkout.
We didn't get much.
We also got two "people treats"
We couldn't get some things he normally likes to buy there because they were OUT (bananas, pizza dough for the boys*). When we left, the four of us easily picked everything up loose (we don't get the bags in the store and just bag when we get to our trunk).
The tally? $67! It looked like so little in the cart. The most expensive thing was the box of cookies ($8). But even if we removed those and the chocolates, the talled was still over $50.
*I took them being out of pizza dough as an opportunity. DH has kind of been insistent on buying pre-made pizza dough. I don't understand why. I know the boys like it, but I can replicate it for pennies. Sometimes I think that DH just wants to buy things "because." I mean, he works HARD, so he wants to feel that he can afford some indulgences. Anyway, batch one of pizze dough just finished, and now I'm going to start batch two. Fingers crossed that the boys say they like it more than the store bought version.
Also, I am going to go over DS3's vegetarian chili needs again to see if we have any reasonable substitutes.
We didn't get much.
- 2 gallons of milk
- a sack of granola
- two packages of cold cuts
- a quart of half n half for DH's infrequent coffee (he does not buy this every week. It takes him a while to use this up)
- a sack of gluten free chicken nuggest (the TJ's brand are cheaper than Aldi's)
- a package of gluten free English muffins
- a head of ice berg lettuce
- a package of dog treats
- one package of peanut butter "bars" to try. Between school, work, and practicum shifts for school, DS1 is often eating on the go and with braces, it's been challenging to find things that he can eat. He's been drinking a lot of shakes. I wanted to let him try these.
We also got two "people treats"
- a box of holiday cookies (TJ's brand of oreos)
- a small box of holiday chocolates
