With my car in the shop, dh left me his car so I could go to work. When it was time to leave, I could not get his car to start! It turns out the battery in my key fob was completely dead. This escaped my notice as I almost never drive his car. It has a key in the fob, so the doors can be unlocked, but the car has a push button start that requires the battery inside the key fob.
So, lesson learned. I'm going to keep spare batteries on hand for BOTH of our key fobs!

I would never think of that. Great idea!

HOly cow, I didn't think of that. Our sedan is similar, and only came with one key. I bought another, but haven't scheduled getting it programmed. I didn't even thuink about spare batteries. Thanks!
P.S. I love those days where things go "wrong" and you can't do anything but stay home. With our power backups here, we don't usually have too much down time. But, I remember living in Florida, I'd get SO much handwork done when we lost power in or after hurricanes. I made an entire set of Christmas gifts one August.

Sandra, I'm go glad it happened while I was home! Can you imagine if I had been out somewhere and needed to get home due to my swelling? Whew!

I never thought of this either! Our car is strictly unlocked and operated with a fob. Yikes! I'm glad you shared this.
