<sigh> Well, here we go.
I did not bake DS1's cake yesterday. That was a mistake, I think, because today...
DS3 received a cake decorating class as a birthday gift. DH found this and has been handling it. Mostly, I am glad he found this class. I've been looking for months with no success: a live online class so we don't have to deal with transportation, But....I repeatedly asked what ingredients/supplies DS would need. I only found out that DH booked the class on Sunday. DH told me they said just some cake and any icing - storebought is fine. Well, I had two small layers frozen and store bought frosting. I was INSIDE a grocery store on Monday night, but since we had the supplies at home, I only bought things I had found out we needed for DS1's birthday (not much), and I didn't buy anything for DS3's class. LAST NIGHT, DH passes me his ipad with an email, and I now see that DS3 needs:
We don't even own 8" cake pans. (He may have to settle for 9" layers). I am going to have DS3 make bake the cake layers tonight (I have cake mixes). But he'll have to make the frosting (I'm not doing it) on Thursday morning before his class. That doesn't leave time for error... but neither did this email. DH offered to help - but, while he means well, that's a joke. He can't get through dinner without being interrupted by work. He was up for an hour in the middle of the night working. This will either work out (hopefully) or it won't. BUT, I will be purchasing shortening (which I don't keep in the house) and more powdered sugar (another thing I don't store. I bought enough for DS1's cake, but no spare).
The real trick will be figuring out when *I* will be able to bake. I honestly through about getting up at 4 AM to do it. I decided to leave that option for tomorrow if it's necessary.
I'm also a little frustated because the price of groceries is INSANE, we haven't yet been paid for the second half of the month, and, no matter how I plan, we always have all these "surprise!" expenses because DH and I do not think about money the same way. I'll give him credit - 90% of the time, he works to adjust to the way I try to think/plan/budget... but not at Christmas.
I've been having trouble sleeping. Hopefully, today will be the kind of day where I will just pass out after all the running and doing.
I did not bake DS1's cake yesterday. That was a mistake, I think, because today...
- I have 7 classes to teach, between 6 AM and 4:30 PM. 5 are before lunch.
- I am going to pick up my new computer glasses today if possible (otherwise, I haveto wait until Friday)
- Yesterday, DS2 came to me because he needs to do a little Christmas shopping. I said, I have a breal in classes starting at 9:30; be ready and I'll take you when I go out to get my glasses.
- There are no official Wednesday night activities at church, but our music group will meet to practice.

- Icing made according to THEIR recipe including several speciality ingredients AND
- Two 8-inch layers
