Our smaller dog always *inhales* her food and then thinks she's constantly hungry. Yesterday we had to buy her a new food dish as hers broke, and we found an interesting new kind of "dish." It's like a silicone saucer, only has different raised ridges inside to catch the food. The dog has to slow down to slide the food out from between the ridge lines. The lines are smooth and don't harm the dog in any way. It just makes eating a slower process. We use wet food for her, but it works with dry food as well.
It really works! I can tell she's eating slower and she did not act like she was starving this morning. I think her tummy feels better today as well.

Our daughter uses one for her cats. One of them she rescued from a horrid situation and he is quite obsessive with food and would inhale it, apparently thinking that was all there was, then throw it all back up, then back to eating, throwing up---and you get the picture here. She bought a slow feeder silicone bowl for the dry kibble and it has worked wonders!
