Well that is strange, I thought I started a new thread for us but it doesn't seem to have gone through, let's see if I can remember what I wrote!
Mel, thank you for checking up on Doris, glad she is okay.
I missed you all yesterday as I had a rotten headache and ended up going to bed to try and sleep it off - think it was a combination of a sudden increase in temperature ( we've gotten up to the low seventies from the high fifties!) and the smoke from next doors horrible barbecue! I'm not going to complain about it to them though as it's hard being in lockdown and if it means they can entertain their children easily and get outside I just have to suck it up!
Today carries on warm and sunny so I have washed everyone's bed linens and potted up my tomatoes as my compost arrived.
Dinner tonight will involve sausages, maybe in a casserole.
Wishing you all a good start to the weekend and I will try to work out how to upload my photos to the garden thread.

Today I have no special plans. For the first day in months, I don't have a single thing that HAS to be done today. I plan to putter around, put things away, tidy as the whim strikes me...
Right now, DH is grocery shopping. (This weekend was his turn.) I'll put those things away when he gets home. I put a pot of redbeans on last night before bed and they'll be perfect for lunch. I have pizza dough in the bread machine for tonight's dinner.

God Morning Susanann. Well I didn't do much yesterday. I had the boys from the family of 12 out, well the 2 oldest ones to mow and edge. I can't do it and MJ hasn't felt up to it so as a surprise for him, I have the boys out. Yesterday we hit 77 to gay we are to begin our ascent to hot again with 82. Today I still have some laundry to do. \I did not bake brownies yesterday so maybe today. I think I will use my new cake pans. I believe 1 mix will fill both and yet not have brownies hanging around for a week... I put nuts in mine but not in MJ's. I want to do some rearranging in my kitchen. Swap out the toaster and the blender. I still have not managed to get the crib put away. Of course some writing. I need also to figure out how to put the links back on my blog... I am having some leftover pizza for breakfast not sure what is happening meal wise for the rest of the day...

Good Afternoon!
So sorry you had a headache, Susanann! Glad to hear you are feeling much better today!
Sandra- that sounds like a perfectly lovely day! Always nice when there isn't something that *has* to be done.
Mel- what a nice surprise for MJ! I know he will appreciate it! Brownies sound delicious.
I woke up at 5 with a bad headache, took something, and went back to bed. Woke back up around 7, fed the cats, and played around on the computer. Then I headed out the grocer. I went to Aldi which was well stocked and only a handful of people as it had just opened. Then I went to Food Lion which didn't have much in some areas, but I think the things they are out of are at the warehouse and for some reason they have no way of getting them. Between the two stores, I was able to get everything I needed for the next few weeks.
Now I am home. DS18 helped me bring in the groceries. I had a bite to eat, talked to DH about the rest of the day, and am now getting ready to unpack and put away the groceries.
DS18 will be cutting the grass and DH will be setting up our raised beds. Not sure what else is going to be happening.

OOOOO Jennilee I would LOVE to have some raised beds! I am thinking seriously abut renting a tiller and having the boys come out and till up a patch for me, and a spot or 2 for a rose bush or 2. The only thing is I would have to take the money from the fix the house fund. Not sure I ought to but man to have my own melons and pumpkins would be such a huge dream come true!

I am very excited to have them, Mel! We got them with our stimulus check. Only four, but it is four we didn't have!
I've got green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini started. Also a few navy bean plants that were science experiments. lol!
I'll be making a pumpkin patch/melon patch on the side of the house, and there's an area in front where I'll be planting lettuce, spinach, cabbage, and broccoli.
In the back, near where the beds are being set up, I've got some horseradish and sunchokes. Only wish I had potatoes, but we started way too late. Next year for sure!

Dh ordered livestock feed so while he did other things I went to the feed store to have it loaded. I didn't even have to get out of the truck, which is good considering how my knee has been feeling. When I got back home dh's niece and her family had gotten here. She and I sat under a huge cedar tree visiting while her boys played with the animals and her dh helped my dh with projects. They left around 4:30 and I fixed dinner and now am relaxing watching tv.

The only thing is I would have to take the money from the fix the house fund. Not sure I ought to but man to have my own melons and pumpkins would be such a huge dream come true! Last year I rented a tiller from Home Depot for $100 for 24 hours and was pretty disappointed with the results. It just couldn't get deep enough and really churn the dirt, despite claiming to have an up to 10" depth. My brother and I went over the plot over 4 times too. I wish I had bought something like this instead: www.amazon.com/Sun-Joe-TJ603E-Electric-Cultivator/dp/B00V6IEVXM/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=tiller&qid=1589081822&sr=8-2Admittedly, I had a LARGE garden area to til up, about 3,600 SF. Didn't really pay off either, the soil isn't loosened for the next year and it what I didn't garden reverted back to grass.

Leah that very tiller is in my amazon cart and has been for weeks. And if you don't like it, you can always sell it on Craigslist or something. There's no recovering the rental money.

Please do let me know how you like it, and how it handles the ground. I'm going to try no tilling this year, with straw mulch... but if I regret that, I'll likely buy a tiller next year.

It will work some on my yard, I think it is thin topsoil with caliche under it. My bil got it done though with a similar machine. I was going to go for the real mantis but it sold out between the time I picked my warranty and went to check out!
