Well, I guess it's been a long time since we went. Yesterday was a pleasant surprise.
I bought out tickets online, which meant I chose our seats. Five hours before the movie, there were only 8 filled seats, and 5 were hours. By an hour prior, the theater was almost full. I could see that online. DH and I had been a little concerned because the theater looked small online, but hey, it would be bigger than our TV room.
Well.. wow.
The theater itself was the same size as before. There were fewer seats... because all the seats had been replaced with recliners! The seats were quite spacious. I'm not a tiny woman, but I had space on both sides of my hips in the seats. They had removed half of the rows so that if someone needed to walk in front of you, you didn't need to stand up or even move your legs (or foot rest).
And it was so CLEAN. The seat were all upholstered with some sort of vinyl, so they are easy to clean.
The five of us going to a movie isn't a cheap proposition, but I actually felt like we got out money's worth yesterday. (Not about the food - the food/snack prices remain insanely high).
We've had several cinemas close here locally because they could never come back from COVID. I sure hope this change pays off for this cinema, and that it sticks around.

I hope theaters can bounce back. I hate seeing them shut down. I haven’t been to one in quite awhile, mostly because I haven’t seen anything coming out that I’m interested in seeing. The last time I was at one they had recliners. Very comfortable.

We rarely go, but I definitely love the recliner seats.

How wonderful to have clean, reclining seats! It's been years since I went to a movie. The theater was very empty and clean, and smelled of stale popcorn oil the last time I went. I've never seen reclining seats.
