I am having a nice slow Sunday morning, listening to a podcast called The Deep Well. In a bit we'll start getting ready. This morning is Sunday School and then Morning Service. We're going back for a second visit to a church. It's not the one that I think that we'll end up at, but we had told someone that we know there that we would be back for a visit.
After church I need to cook off the English Muffins and then we are taking my dad out to dinner for Father's Day.

Simple Sunday indeed. Bed is made, quiet time done, cat fed. Church then who knows? Maybe nothing except cooking dinner tonight.

Today is (thanksfully) MUCH more simple than yesterday.
We went to church. After church I took DS3 to the grocery store to get ingredients for his cooking class. Yes, DH & I went yesterday. But I have a plan that I'm hatching to get DS3 to take more on. First, today, I did not do the shopping. I walked along side him and answered questions if he had any (he did). After a week or two of this, I'm going to sit in a chair at the front of the store and let him do all the aisles on his own, and then I'll pay. After two smooth weeks of THAT, I'm going to do the same thing EXCEPT I'm going to give him a prepaid card so he can do the checking out, too. And the coup de grace... when he is comfortable with that, I'm goign to have him drive himself to the store. It's only a few miles, and almost a straight shot. No traffic lights, but some stop signs. Unlike most teen boys, he is NOT eager to drive (even that small amount). So we'll work up to it.
Anyway, after that, we came back and I set him to repackaging cheese from yesterday's Costco trip while I cut down vegetables, and unpacked dishes and put them to wash. The dishes we got last year have been a huge disappointment. They were a well known, respected brand, and more than half are just... broken. Of the remaining pieces, you can see the ceramic cracked through the glaze, so it's only a matter of time. Yesterday, they had some very nice looking stoneware and it was very reasonably priced, so, once again, we will have enough matching dishes for a meal for all of us. If these break, then I'm going back to the metal plates. DH isn't a fan, but they don't break!
After that, we had lunch. DH is now working out with the boys. I emptied and refilled the dishwasher and wrapped his Father's Day gifts. Then I stopped here to check in. When they are finished working out, DH requested to play some music with me and DS2. We'll see how that goes. DS and I had totally different thoughts when DH brougth this up, and it turns out neither of us were thinking about the music DH was thinking of... and then he (DH) played the "for Father's Day" card. It was kind of funny... hopefully, our attempts to play together won't be too funny.
By then, we might be closing in on dinner. The front living room space is FULL of boxes. I have asked DS1 & DS2 to cut the cardboard down. it will be too much for recycling and need to go in garbage bags. So far, it's still sitting there. I understand they both have a day off, but... To be honest, I ask them to do very little in terms of chores because they are both working VERY hard between work and school, but I don't think this job is too much to ask.
DH wants to grill for dinner.

Not so simple here today. Dd2 and her dh came for lunch and brought another couple their age who are visiting for the weekend. I made a very large lunch so there would be plenty of leftovers to share. We had pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and onions, corn, baked beans, deviled eggs, and brownies. Instead of water I made lemonade. The men, especially, were VERY happy to have a large, home-cooked meal. Dh was thrilled to get a dessert as I usually don't make it unless we have company.
Most of the dishes are done. I just need to wash up the roaster and a couple of things that didn't fit in the dishwasher. My swelling is really bad, so I splurged and opted for the dishwasher instead of hand washing everything.
Dh went to choir practice, then will drive to his dad's to attend church with him this evening. His dad is not doing very well physically or mentally since dh's mom died and I know dh wants to spend as much time with him as possible.
All the young people had activities planned, except for dd1 who is staying with me. We are tired from all the cleaning and cooking and will take it easy the rest of the day.
