Good morning! Working today. Bed is made, quiet time done, and enough leftovers put by that I shouldn't have to cook all weekend. Hoping to get the floors mopped when I get home; off to water the garden before work.

Rebekah, cheese does make everything taste better. The deer may eat the leaves but the gourd itself would taste nasty. With a gourd, if the deer was to take a bite out of it, it’d stop growing (if the bite was from the end) but let it dry out and you’ll still have a loofah sponge albeit a smaller one. Spray the area with maybe ammonia that deer may not like or get human urine and pour in that area.
Dh and I are running errands. When we get home we’ll be having friends come over.

Good (Sunday) morning, ladies. Merrilee, it's nice to have the cooking done for a few days. Gina, Rebekah - regarding gourds, I've actually seen recipes to use them when they're still really small (I've never gorwn them nor cooked them myself). It may be that the bitterness cooks out, but I'd probably toss some bird netting over until they get a little size on them. The deer here, at least, are pretty brazen. Yesterday was a rush. Farmer's market (last one of the season here - it was the first year our city had it. I think it will expand next summer, at least in dates), then Publix, then Trader Joes, then put things away and lunch at home, THEN Costco, then home to put things away again, then a monthly Zoom call with friends (I was about 15 minutes late, just glad I made it. then DH grilled burgers and we watched a movie. DS1 should be home from work in an hour or so. We'll head to church (for the first round 😉) today in about twenty minutes. We'll come home and go back later today for a luncheon for just youth and parents. We are down to a single "youth" in our house. The luncheon will be mostly information, some planning I think. I'm hoping this will be quick because the sister of a good friend passed on earlier this week and the funeral is at 1:30 today. The church is actually very close to our home, so I am going to ask DH to drop me off there. After that... the only things I need to do this afternoon are: - Remind DS2 that he said he'd put wall hangers up for me (which he said he'd do Tuesday, then said he'd do it yesterday...)
- Put away a set of storage containers I got at Costco. They're basically bins. I got a set to try last month, and they worked SO well, I got another set. It's really helping to segregate groups of foods (DH's gluten free snacks, fridge snacks and counter snacks for the boys). Snaks is probably not the right word. Some things are snacks, but they're also packable for lunches (for people with braces), and DS2 has been taking some of the things for breakfasts. They all agreed they like these things are they're helpful, but if they're in the pantry... apparently they can't remeber to OPEN the pantry. 🤦🏻♀️ Anyway, I leave a bin on the counter and only put in a few of each thing, and restock. At least they're eating. At one point DS2 admitted to me he'd lost five pounds. He's just running around, going to school and working, and is only stopping once a day for a true meal. And DS1 has started working these 24 hour shifts. He packs one meal to take, but I notice he often brings it home half eaten. Ah, well.
- I have a BUNCH of things that I cleaned out of my bedroom closet. They are things we need to hang onto, but I don't want them in my side of the closet any more. There's space in the garage, but there are also bugs out there. This afternoon may be more about brainstorming than actually putting them away anywhere.
Have a lovely Sunday, ladies.

This afternoon at 3:00 there’s a men’s day service with a visiting minister and everyone is invited so I’ll be greeting at that service. I intend to take dh home after the 11:00 service so he can get some rest (has to leave the house around 10pm to go to work) but, knowing him, he’ll probably insist on staying for the afternoon service.
I gained 4 lbs of fluid since yesterday so I’m sitting in the church foyer near the restroom. When I get home I need to finish piecing the quilt top together. I need to finish this quilt before September so I can start the next one.
Sandra, I was reading that loofah gourd is a veggie and you can eat it. A goose got hold of one growing into their pen. She didn’t eat much. That was the first time I saw what one was like on the inside (I let them dry out before peeling them). Fresh they are stinky and gel-like. I wouldn’t try eating it.

Gina, I feel your pain. I feel like all I have done all day is pee. Church was good today, but during the service I got a text about my son Patrick that just totally broke me. I will explain tomorrow, right now, i just can't.
