Church, then a jam this afternoon. For some reason, there's youth in the morning at church, but not the evening. DS1 isn't working... so everyone will be home for dinner, and at the same time. We'll probably grill. It's still hot, and DH likes it.
This afternoon, there's a jam. DS2 told DH he's excited about it, so I guess I'll have company (which is nice).
Yesterday's "lecture" turned out to be really fun. I thought it was going to be a presentation followed by a concert. But instead, they'd talk a little about a specific fiddler, then play a tune or two learned from that person. The first presenter was really interesting. She did her resarch in the early '80s, when common Old Time fiddletunes cam frmo other states. She wondered if there were any Alabama fiddlers, and ended up researching them and writing a book. She talked about spending hours in libraries, reading through old newspapers for names, and later driving all over the state to meet these folks and hear them play. They were all in the 70s, 80s, and 90s when she interviewed and recorded them. All the stories behind the tunes were great.
Gina, how are you feeling?
Merrilee, it sounds like you had a relaxing day yesterday.

This is bluegrass Sunday. Our town has a world class bluegrass festival each year, and it is a pretty big deal here. They come from all over the world to perform. We are encouraged to wear tie dye to church today and there will be a potluck after. So my day is pretty full.

Dh has preaching appointments every Sunday this month and the kids didn't come for lunch today, so it's been quiet here. I hemmed a dress and had leftovers for lunch. I still need to make salads for the week and menu plan.

I’m feeling okay but do feel like I have some lung congestion or infection. Not coughing much but short of breath moving around and a heaviness in the lungs. Our town has an annual bluegrass festival the last weekend of October (I believe). Keep meaning to go but just haven’t. I love bluegrass music. We attended the early morning service then left to go to our (Lenard’s) grandson & wife’s vow renewal ceremony in Galveston. It was nice seeing family. It’s a two hour drive so we don’t see that grandson & family much at all. Next month they are moving to Iowa to pastor a church there so this was pretty much our only chance to see them & our great grandkids. We just got home. We’ve already eaten. I’ll sit outside while dh feeds the animals.
