Hey ladies! How are all of you doing? It’s been awhile since we’ve checked in with one another. What have you been up to? How is your family? Anything new happening? What’s been on your mind?
We are doing pretty good. Dh is still working and plans on continuing to be a truck driver as long as he can. He’ll turn 70 next month but is in really good health. We have 12 1/2 acres and plan on selling two acres of it to some friends. We’ve already talked to the bank and they’re fine with that. It’ll enable us to pay the loan down to almost nothing and enable us to get a much newer mobile home (ours is from the 1970’s or so). When we bought the land from dh’s family the judge set the price at what three acres would have cost but we’re selling these two acres at the market price. After this sale dh can go down to part time or get a job as a ranch hand. We’re buying a few head of cattle after not having cattle for around 12 years. I’m excited to be getting them. Right now I have goats, horses, chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, rabbits, dogs and cats. Going to be selling the rabbits to a niece soon. I’m being tested for a blood cancer like myeloma. Some routine lab work came back abnormal so my family dr sent me to a hematologist. She’s ordering tests.

Hey ladies!
I'm still trucking along here. DH and I just got back from driving the Blue Ridge Parkway for about a week. It was amazing. Pretty much life is work, DAR stuff, and crafts (I've been making a lot of baby blankets lately).
Gina, I thought that ya'll were going to build a house on your land?

Michelle, the guy who was going to build the house in exchange for an acre of land has been ghosting us. Not returning calls or texts. We’re happier going this route really since we’ll be getting the loan way, way down plus have extra funds to get a house (either fix this one up or get another).

Hope it all goes well for you, Gina! Michelle, baby blankets sound like fun.
I've been really busy with alterations. Just a little bit of advertising has caused my workload to explode and I'll be busy at least through Christmas. This is a blessing! It's also a learning curve, because I'm trying to balance health issues, dd1's health issues, plus the paperwork on top of the actual sewing. I only want to work part time as that's all I can handle right now. Our heating/AC unit is on its last leg, and I'm hoping to earn and save enough to get a replacement by the time it dies.
Dh's dad is requiring more of our time and attention. I'm convinced he has dementia. Dh is busy helping him, helping at church, and filling pulpit for churches and pastors who need it.
Dd2 and her dh are doing well but found out their landlord plans to raise their rent to almost double. They have several months before this happens, but it will mean yet ANOTHER move and trying to find a place in their price range, etc. Housing here just keeps getting worse as outsiders from out of state, who have more money, keep buying up our cheaper land/properties so we who actually live here and work here cannot find or afford a place to live. I think it's criminal and there should be protections put in place to stop this! It's going to ruin our state.
The weather is cooler and that's a relief! I love fall!
