Good morning!
Gina, I can't believe that Naomi is 19. Wow.
Today will be a big shopping day... well, it's a Costco day. So "regular" grocery store, Trader Joe's and Costco. My big goal is to keep expenditures down. These trips will be different.
First, so many nights, not only is everyone not home for dinner, but when DS1 or 2 get home, it's so late they either grabbed something on the way home or just don't eat. I found DS1's dinner in the fridge untouched this morning. On Thursday, I actually handed DS2 a packed dinner to eat in the car as he was flying in and back out (He could eat it because DH was driving). But I can't pull that off every day. So... this month, I'm going to buy a bunch of those pre-made hot sandwiches (like burgers, chicken sandwiches). We'll see what they have. My goal is for them to have something substantial they can grab and go.
Second, DS3's classes don't ppost the ingredients until the end of the previous week. I get it - the teachers are trying to prevent people just taking their recipes and then withdrawing from class. Usually, I have almost everything he needs, but yikes yesterday's class had ex[ensive ingredients. Granted, DH & I were impressed last night. It was delicious. Something called salmon nicoise. I expected salad, but it was more like a wilted salad. And DS3 is getting better at making presentations.
Tonight, DH & I talked about taking everyone to see a movie since everone will actually be home. We are going to see the Agatha Christie movie. I just read the book it's supposed to be based on... but so far, reading the plot synopsis, I can't figure out HOW it's based on the book. It seems totally different. Normally, we'd have pizza but no one wants that when we go to a movie (they all eat snacks and junk), so pizza will happen tomorrow (which is one less dinner I will cook and ANOTHER reason to buy up fewer meal ingredients). I will eat something before we go to the movies. I have tried almost all the "food" there and most of it is just yucky. Last time I got macaroni and cheese. I ended up giving it to the boys (who agreed it was yucky but ate every bite of it).
Have a great day, ladies.
