Hello, Ladies. We are home. I tried to pop in during the week, but we really kept a breakneck pace.
We split the day's drive into two both ways - it's a long story why, but it turned out well. On the ssecond day on our way, our short 3 hour drive took us 7 hours. It was DS1's birthday and he'd chosen a restaurant and DH had made reservations... we BARELY made it in... nad (of course) it was pouring and we were all soaked. But we sure slept well that night!
We got up early this morning and were home by 9. It was kind of awesome - we needed to pick up the dogs, and then we were able to grocery shop (for regular groceries) and take DS3 to pick up a final Christmas gift before we had lunch. In between, we've all been doing laundry, putting things away... I logged on here to check email... and I'm starting to feel the early morning hit me. Whew.
We did NOT get anything for dinner. I placed an order with the closest grocery store. I don't even remember what I ordered now, but it will all be in the same bags and I just pick it up tomorrow at 12:15 and will only have to cook. Knowing how early we got home today, I didn't need to do that, but it's all good.
We have no cookies or anything like that. I "warned" DH this would happen because of the timing of the trip. But, the store had some cookie mixes on sale half price and I picked up a few. DS3 had made noises about making cookies, but right now, I think everyone is too tired. Maybe tomorrow between church services. At least they will be easy.
Gina, I've made homemade ketchup - the old HillyBilly Housewife recipe. The kids loved it, and it was super easy.
Michelle, that's a nice break/vacation! I hope you enjoy it.
Rebekah, I'm sorry to hear that about your FIL.
Merrileem, your meals always sound so good.
