Good morning. The last gift arrived yesterday afternoon, is wrapped, and is under the tree.
Christmas Eve is traditionally busy for me, but this year (although still busy) is different.
Every other single year we've been married, we have our big meal (which can take most of the day to prepare) and then exchange gifts.
So, that's my day. It's going to be long, but not too heavy in terms of work. I will even be able to indulge in a cup of coffee after dinner because being awake this evening will be helpful!
Have a lovely day, ladies.
Christmas Eve is traditionally busy for me, but this year (although still busy) is different.
Every other single year we've been married, we have our big meal (which can take most of the day to prepare) and then exchange gifts.
- Church this morning. Our church normally has four Sunday Services (we generally attend one), plus Sunday school plus youth. Today, there is no Sunday School and no youth; two services in this morning (we'll go to the later one), then three tonight.
- I places an order for Christmas dinner things while we were out of town and it's supposed to be ready at 12:15 today. I think it's like a grocery pick up, which I've never done before, so I need to allocate a little time to figure that out.
- In the afternoon, I will need to cook and/or assemble dinner. DS3 & I made three batches of cookies yesterday afternoon. I am going to ask him to make another and I will aim to make one more batch, too.
- We'll have dinner, and then open gifts. The boys were all in agreement that they did not want to wait until after church to exchange gifts. It's not because they can't wait; they said they want to go straight to bed when they get home from church. They sure aren't kids any more!
- Late(r) tonight: DH, DS2, and I are all signed up to participate in the latests church service (I need to be in place no later than 10 PM) some way. I will be a "greeter" which means I won't even be in the service most of the time. It will be a long, crowded service. (The first year we went, people were sitting in the aisles, the hallway, and even the window sills. I expect the same tonight.)
Because of our trip, I "warned" DH no cookies, no normal meal prep (because a lot of it is done before the day of, right?).
So, that's my day. It's going to be long, but not too heavy in terms of work. I will even be able to indulge in a cup of coffee after dinner because being awake this evening will be helpful!
Have a lovely day, ladies.
