I was certain I had set up the declutter challenge but... I can't find one so... perhaps I just mentioned it in a post and forgot...
How do you handle clutter?
My preferred method is to get a huge box and as I see stuff, or make an effort to see stuff, chuck it in there.
When the box is full we take it to a near by thrift where the money made stays in the community.
Since October we have taken 2 trucks full, not just the box but filled the space around it too. Back seat and cargo area. I have a Durango, not a HUGE truck, but still pretty big.
So far this time I have weeded out sheets and a few misc. items. So far. I weeded out some nighties that are like new but I don't like wearing them. They just don't fit. So why hang on to them?
I hope we can encourage each other to get rid of things that are in the way or just don't let us enjoy our homes or don't function well in our homes.

We make it a point to go through our clothes at the beginning of each season. For other things, like housewares, it is a 1 piece in, 1 piece out rule.

Well MJ and I went through his clothes. All the 3xs left, other than 2 tees he kept for the pool. Roughly 1/2 the clothes in his closet left. Some went into his drawers most into the donate box.
Michelle, here our weather doesn't get drastic, usually, so i wear everything all year. I have some tees for specifc days, like today, that I hang on to. I do plan to go through mine again, mainly my shirts and such in my drawers. I am mulling a couple skirts I haven't worn in a long while.

At least once a month I get a box or large garbage bag and go through an area. We tend to dump stuff in a corner of the living room. It’s usually stuff from the car when we clean out the car or stuff given to us (empty egg cartons customers give back to me, etc). I weed through it putting things where they belong and throwing a lot away. I’m like Mel, with our weather I can wear the same clothes year round. I tend to wear some shirts so much they can’t be donated due to stains or tears from farm chores so they get tossed or used as boot rags. Things in good shape are donated or if the fabric is one I love it’ll go in my fabric tote for quilts. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight so I’ve gotten rid of a lot.

Mel, I always say “I’m not losing my mind. I lost it a long time ago and am learning to live nicely without it” lol!
