I posted how we got a new spigot today. I want to share what we learned.
The spigot we liked the most was one of the most expensive. Not the most expensive, and we could afford it. But you know how it is - when it's pricey, you want to check and make sure you're getting your money's worth.
We looked at all the others. Most of them had features we didn't like or thought would break too easily.
DH got the idea to look for this particular spigot in Costco. We found it... we thought. And it was $100 cheaper when you factored in taxes. It turned out it wasn't exactly the same, but very close, and from the same manufacturer. For $100, it was worth driving all the way across the area (even with the gas). But then I looked at the reviews.
A full 30% of the reviews were negative, with a full 25% of ALL reviews being the lowest possible. Every single negative review featured the same issue (poor water pressure), and multiple reviewers explained that they had contacted the manufacturere who confirmed it was installed correctly and sent replacement parts... to have the same results.
So we started looking at reviews for the "expensive" version. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive and the reviews were spread over a lot more purchases. 95% of the reviewers gave it 5 stars.
We ended up leaving with the "expensive" spigot because we figured that, in the long run, we'd spend less and have fewer headaches.

Good thing you checked the reviews. Amazing how the same product from the same manufacturer can have such different reviews and be different in quality.

That's actually quiet common with plumbing products. Where you get it is just as important as the brand that you get.
