Or do without.
OR.....
Have it in your "preps."
For years, I have gone back and forth in the balance between recognizing we are lillies of the field and setting back stores in times of plenty for times of famine, just as Joseph interpreted the Pharaoh's dream.
This has been on my mind more lately as the boys' schedules have changed. I now have too much in my pantry stores, and am figuring out how to scale back.
At the same time, I blow dry my hair every other day. My hair dryer is on its last legs. Part of me thinks - get a new one now so you have it when it dies. The other part of me thinks... if I get it now, I won't continue "wearing out" the old one. 🤦🏻♀️ It's not the money. We can totally afford a new blow dryer... It's more about my overthinking how to bea good steward.
Is it just me? 😹

Nope not just you. I am in the process of decluttering my pantry. I will be giving my son, who seems to be struggling, a good sized box of pantry items. All quick items, canned veggies and so on. His wife doesn't scratch cook so flour would just go to waste. I actually tossed some items that were 2 years old. Pudding mixes. I have tried using old mixes and the results are just sad.
I feel about my sandals like you do your blow dryer. Right now I have 3 pair I am breaking in, because I can't find my old style ones. These are my size but still tight.
Why 3 pr? Because I HATE shoes. So when I find ones that are acceptable, I buy several pair so I don't have to search for them again. These do not have the high arch I really need but they do have some arch and are comfortable mostly.
Now I feel like I have too many shoes. 2 pr sandals, 1 pr old ones that are barely usable, and 2 pr sneakers. Plus 2 pool shoes and slippers. My brother laughs at me and said he is more woman than I have because he has way more shoes than I do. I do wear them all but how many is too many?
In any case Sandra you are not alone.

When I notice something is almost worn out, like the blow dryer or shoes, I go ahead and get another one and just set it aside so it's there once I need it. That way, I still get use of the old item but won't have to run out and get a replacement if it dies at an inconvenient time.
I mentioned to dd1 the other day that I'd like to get a new shower curtain. She asked me why, as the one we have is fine. This one is 20 years old. It's not outdated, as it's white eyelet which goes with anything. I just wanted something different. She convinced me to keep using it and be content. I was surprised, but shouldn't be, as we've raised her to be frugal. LOL!

I am so frugal when it comes to being myself anything. Granted, I may buy myself another book or fabric for a quilt but if it's clothes or shoes for myself as long as I already have a pair of sandals, dress shoes, and sneakers then I'm fine. Same with clothes, if I have a few dresses, etc then I'm good. Dh has to plead with me to buy myself some clothes.

I used to think my efforts storing up preps. Canning, Et cetera We're not Bing. Useful for my family. But now I say my daughter knows how to do all of these things and very well. As well as one of my granddaughters. Grandson
