How are you doing this summer? Any big plans? Gardens? DIY?
I have a lot going on. My first garden in years! Several diy ideas in my head.
Decluttering and reorganizing my office craft room. Enjoying out small pool. Just perfect for floating. It is 15x15 round pool. It can handle 4 adults with out feeling crowded. We have 12 children, aged 10 month to 12 years in it last weekend and my what fun. I was totally shocked it didn't come crashing down but it is holding up admirably. This is its 3rd summer and it is one of the best birthday gifts I have ever gotten! It gives us enjoyment every year.
I am making a real effort to eat at home this summer too so I plan to stock up on sandwich and finger foods. Quick things we can grab and take outside. What are you doing?

My knee is almost back to normal. I got in the back garden this morning for the first time in over 2 weeks. Pulled grass from around the okra. Nothing is ready for picking. This evening we'll fertilize again. Dh has been pulling weeds from the watermelon garden but still has a lot of area to go. So far we've seen 6 watermelons. Dh has quute a bit of house repairs to do this month before grandkids come next month. We'll be transferring the young turkeys from their pen into the goose pen soon.

I have no big plans. Last summer, we bought summer passes to a local water park. I'm so glad we did then, since we won't have that option at all this year. I am still teaching, but it's really different. It was nice to have a month off from my U.S. based classes. :-) I continue to teach my Asian based classes as long as they fill up. I am teaching a single U.S. based class for high school. It's not a lot of money for me, but I'm learning a LOT about the teaching platform that I will be using with more students in August. And I've started teaching music classes for elementary children. Those are very small (so pay very little), but it's fun and low pressure for now. It would be nice to see if that will grow. Like so many things, there are trends in what parents are interested in and can afford, so we'll see. Before, all my U.S. based students were homeschooled. This week, I taught seven new students, only one of whom was officially homeschooled. The others had been in "virtual" school. It's a fun and interesting way to bring in a little extra money. Other than that, I'm cooking, baking, and feel like I'm constrantly strategizing the best way to spend our grocery money. That's like a full time logic puzzle

Mel, the pool sounds wonderful! What a great way to enjoy the summer. Gina, I'm so glad your knee is doing better. Sandra, I hear you on the grocery strategizing! With both girls having Celiac and food allergies, my grocery bill is crazy.
We are making do and trying to economize where possible. Dh is still the only one of us working right now. My health problems are gradually getting worse. Don't know if I'll be back to work or not once school re-opens. I guess we'll see. I have enjoyed the extra time to sew and have been able to make and sell a few masks here and there. This month I'm working on more items to sell at craft fairs come fall. It's fun to sew the baby items especially.
Dd2 had a very close call after suddenly developing yet another food allergy. I had to use the epi-pen on her and the doctor followed that up with a double dose of steriod. It has taken her a week to recover. The doctor says when she does go back to college, she will be preparing all of her own meals. It's too dangerous for her to try to eat the cafeteria food there. So, we're planning and researching ways to help her with that.
On a good note, the girls had a friend over for a day and it cheered them to visit with someone their own age.

We normally visit my father in Pennsylvania in the summer but I was already there for a few days in January and then the whole family drove there for the funeral in March. If we end up still distance learning in the fall we might make a trip then. DH has asked me to look into some kind of 2-3 day trip within the state and I think it will involve visiting a few waterfalls and hiking. Our BIG trip is scheduled for Augst, and that will just be DH and Princess Alpha. They'll be driving to Albuquerque to take her to college.

I can not believe Princess Alpha is ready for college all ready! We don't travel. I dread leaving Texas , even San Angelo. I want to it's just logistics. We would have to find a dialysis clinic and with the iffy way MJ feels after and my limited energy and pain issues it 's very difficult. I have always wanted to see Boston and Williamsburg and I love museums. Especially history ones. We have a fort...

We put in the start of a garden this year. I am planning on expanding it next year, but just wanted to get something in this year.
Since my eldest daughter left, we decided that DD2 will switch rooms with the boys (18 and almost 15) since her room (that she shared with DD1) is a bit bigger. That's the big project for the summer and it will hopefully be finished by the end of July.
The children and I go to the beach every year with my mother, but I'm not sure if that's still going on or not. We are scheduled to be going in July, but with everything going on it's all up in the air. I'll have to call her and find out as I forgot to ask her about it yesterday when I saw her.
Mel- I know it is unlikely, but if you ever do get to Williamsburg, let me know. I'm about 20 minutes away!
