We've been dealing with ants all summer long. First it was the small black "sugar ants" constantly on the kitchen counter. Then it was hugs black "Carpenter" ants in the kitchen. We put out ant traps/bait and the big ones left. The smaller black ants are still hanging around and have moved to the bathroom, constantly crawling all over our toothbrushes and sink. I have to rinse the toothbrushes very carefully and store them in a drawer or the ants are on them. Odd, because we use mint flavor toothpaste and ants don't like mint.
But the worst ants came about a month ago. These are very, very tiny, kind of a golden brown color and they are driving us crazy. If we feed the dogs, within an hour the dog food bowls are covered. Dirty dishes left in the sick for even half an hour? Covered with ants. A speck of food on the floor? Again, ants all over it. I've never in my life seen this. We've sprayed the counters, sink, stove, etc. Even if there's no food or dirty dishes, we can still find ants scouting out the kitchen.
Our church and school buildings are having the same issues, especially in the bathrooms and kitchens. This is WITHOUT students there to leave crumbs. Other people in our area are saying the same thing, that the ants are just everywhere. Ugh!

I don't see many ants. An occasional one will venture into my kitchen but since I use citurs everything they do not stay long.

I've been dealing with ants too! The best poison I've found is TERRO. It can take days. You have to set it out and let them feed on it, resisting the urge to kill them.
