Dh just told me that tomorrow I have to go buy myself some new clothes. He knows I hate buying clothes for myself but told me I really need to buy new clothes. I have lost over 55 lbs over the past 18 months. Now my clothes are way too loose. Tomorrow I'll be hitting up a Goodwill and a thrift store in town. Do y'all like frequenting thrift stores (I know you, Mel, do)? Do y'all like clothes shopping?

Gina - congratulations on the weight loss πππ
I will say - I am not a fan of clothes shopping. I often get easily frustrated. I'm just fussy about the styles and types of things I want to wear. It's totally my personality!
I do like thrift shopping for some things, but I *really* like shopping at places like Ross, Burke's, and sometimes TJ Maxx.... There was a store like this in TX, too, that only had locations in smaller cities. I LOVED that place. I can't recall the name of it. There used to be one in Corsicana, but it was replaced (after we moved) with a Burkes.
What about Tractor Supply? I know they don't carry a lot, but some of my best fitting and longest lasting jeans, shirts (and boot), I got there.

Thrift shopping yes. Clothes shopping no. I tend to buy jean skirts, which are adjustable and Tees. I wear them most places. I have a few good dresses. Not sure how they will fit now I lost weight also. Haven't had a dress up occasion since.
Have fun Gina!

I like thrift shopping, not so much for clothes for me, but I do like to find cheap clothes with unique buttons or zippers, etc. that I can upcycle in my sewing projects. Once I found a stained top at a yard sale for a quarter. It had beautiful buttons that would have cost me several dollars had I bought them at the fabric shop. I also have purchased stained or ripped jeans to use for patches and to cut up to make rag rugs.

Wow, Gina! Congratulations on the weight loss!!!
I don't normally buy things for myself "in person" anymore, as I have the children with me literally 24/7 so find trying on stuff impossible.
With that said, I take my measurements and order clothes online from eBay, Amazon, etc. I try to buy fabrics that are forgiving as my weight tends to fluctuate (even though, like you, I'm on a weight loss journey).
I pretty much live in Maxi dresses year round for "public", and around the house, tshirts and long tshirts. Most of the maxi dresses I buy are tshirt material so will have a bit of stretch.
When I used to clothes shop for myself, I liked Savers, Salvation Army, and Red Racks (although the ones near me have all closed now). For "new", I liked Target, JC Penney, Marshall's, Ross, and sometimes Walmart.
Best of luck and I look forward to hearing about your clothes shopping!

I went to Goodwill and got 3 dresses, 2 shirts, and a pair of capris. I was surprised at what size I am now. Was a 2x or 18. Now I'm a medium or 12. When I got there I migrated straight to the books so I spent more than intended lol. Still I spent $28 on the clothes so not too bad.

I love to shop in thrift shops. I actually find more that fits me and I like there than in new clothing stores. My daughter and I make a trip to Savers about every three months. She is a teacher and head of the English department so she dresses business casual I think youβd call it , but she always looks amazing. A great portion of her wardrobe comes from Savers. This is our routine: We go in , split up and check out the clothing in our sizes and occasional home decor or kitchen items. After about an hour or so , we meet up in the back near the furniture where I find a seat. Then we each bring up every item weβd put in our baskets and we decide if we really want/need/love it or if it will fit . We check with one another for opinions and then itβs off to the cash register and a well deserved lunch. Last trip I got two pairs of capris, a pair of shorts, and three shirts and a really pretty t shirt. Hugs and God bless, Helen(grammea)

Helen, I wonder how much will I bring back home from Savers when I go up to see you. Savers seems to be cheaper than Goodwill on some items.

I detest clothes shopping. If I find something I actually like I just buy in every color. I pray it lasts a few years. π€£

I did this two summers ago... but I didn't buy enough blouses and they are literally wearing out. I'm going to restock those, and I bought all colors of another style blouse I like. Anymore, once I find a blouse that is modest, covers my arms, isn't hot, and (hopefully) somewhat flattering, I just stick with that. I can pair blouses with skirts or slacks (honestly, usually jeans), and toss on a cardigan jacket if needed or a hoodie if it's flat out cold.

I admit to skipping the thrift stores lately because I work for Bass Pro and get a really nice discount. The clothes are well-made and tend to fit my style. When I need something specific that we don't carry, I like TJMaxx. I worked there years ago before I started teaching. I bought my last 2 purses there.
