I found an audio book on Youtube called "Letters from a Woman Homesteader." Wow! This woman and her little girl left the city and lived as homesteaders. She wrote letters back to her friend, and these letters were made into an audio book. There is also a movie based on her adventures, but the movies is nowhere near as good as the audio book.
It just amazes me how people lived over a hundred years ago. I wouldn't dream of going on a picnic without taking an entire cooler of food, along with all kinds of other items for comfort. This lady and her daughter literally went on a picnic with a fish hook and little else and survived a snowstorm!
If you get a chance to listen, I highly recommend it!

Thank you so much! If you click on the right edition of the book it is free on kindle. I don’t have a kindle but I do have a kindle app on my phone. Just “bought” this for free and am looking forward to reading it! Thanks for the suggestion. Ooh! Maybe if we get a bunch of ph’ers to read it we can come back and get a discussion thread going??? What do you think? Hugs and God bless, Helen(grammea)
