What security measures do you follow for your home? We keep the doors locked unless we're going in and out, and the outbuildings are locked. Our dogs alert us to any company or deliveries.
We have porch lights and a couple other lights near the outbuildings. We all know how to use a firearm if needed, plus dh and dd1 know karate. Dh has a black belt in karate. Our area is not a high-crime place, but we do have lots of drug addicts and since we're rural, it can take a while for cops to come when called.

We haven't locked our doors in the entire 17 yrs we've lived here lol. Our house is towards the back of the property in the woods. We're rural also and it's a very safe area. I'd have to say our best security is the elderly couple and their son across the road...they see everything lol. We used to lock our livestock gate but that was mostly to keep dh's aunts & uncles off the property while we were going through the court battle over the land. Now that we have the land we wrap the chain around the gate but mostly to keep one horse in particular from opening the gate lol. We don't have anything much of value so if any burglar can get past 60 chickens, 4 turkeys, 8 dogs, 4 horses, and (at times) 8 goats, then they must be desperate and would be very disappointed at the stuff they'd find.

We definitely kick up when gone but will leave windows open in nice weather. We're in the country as well with several homes in our lane. Our house is the original farm house and the previous owner divided up the land and were all on a cull de sac. We have 3 German Shepherds and a Pit Bull in the house. No one is going to set foot in it. Or they do, they'll take maybe one step before running away. 🤣
