Ella posted in the 2021 thread and I realized we hadn't had a Dear Friends since then! So what is new?

What's new on my end is that dh is retired but does work part time for Ace Hardware. I'm doing the same stuff as always: taking care of animals, housework, and gardening during the summer. Just at a slower pace due to heart failure and possible pulmonary hypertension. The MGUS isn't causing problems so I tend to forget I even have it.

Good morning!
Let's see, DH and I both work from home for universities in other states. I enjoy it a lot better than going in to the office.
I've joined the Daughters of the American Revolution and I've recently joined the Embroiderer's Guild of America.
Other than that, not much has changed other than trying to slow down life.

Good morning.
Since 2021... we have two homeschooled graduates. One remaining high schooler who has one year left.
DH is back to traveling. Unlike when the boys were younger, we can no longer tag along. At the amount he travels now... since it's always to the same place... we might as well move there (when our youngest graduates). I'm not 100% excited about that idea and I'm pretty sure DH isn't either. So, we wait and see. After all, it would be a nuisance to move and end up with him needing to travel someplace else. One constant for us through the years has been change.
On that note... last month marked six years in the same house. That is the longest we have ever lived anywhere in our entire marriage.

Ella, I'm glad you are going to have a family get together soon. It'll be like a welcome home party for you with all your family in attendance. I'm finally piecing together the quilt top for my doctor. It's "A Walk In the Woods" pattern so a lot of earth tones. It's something I can do while resting. Otherwise, just sitting watching TV I feel I'm wasting my time.

Good morning.
Didn't get any housework done yesterday as I somehow managed to pull something in my back. Also didn't work out this morning because of it. It's feeling a bit better, but I don't want to risk hurting it more.
We had a bunch of wind come through last night so DH is outside cleaning up debris.
We have to run to the mall tonight, but otherwise I am hoping for a quiet evening.

Michelle, I hope your back is better.
I finally caught whatever cold made DH & the boys so miserable a couple weeks ago. I feel okay... it's mostly annoying.
It's been a busy day of juggling students and household stuff. DS2 wants to borrow our car while the truck is in the shop next week, my aunt and I are trying to set at time for lunch this weekend... the boys found out last night that they're going to a regional competition with their tkd demo team (yay) and *I* found out today that parent attendance is required at the practice tomorrow. DH comes home tomorrow... in time to go to practice with me!
it's all good things - I'm just trying not to drop any balls.

Ella, it is so nice to see you visiting again!
Gina, taking care of yourself is not "wasting time".
Somehow we got the idea that the point of life is to rush here and htere and rack up accomplishments. All while forgetting to live.
I am making a concerted effort to stop rushing. Making small progress but some is better than none I am told.

Hello, dear friends. I hope everyone is having a great day. Jonathan just brought me KFC for lunch. It is the first time I've been able to eat a Whole meal. We have to take care of ourselves so we can look well to the way of our households

Somehow we got the idea that the point of life is to rush here and htere and rack up accomplishments. All while forgetting to live. Mel, I feel this so much right now. To be fair, I think we were a little "spoiled" while all the boys were homeschooling; we could just do what we wanted when we wanted. We (at least, DH & I) are/will be very busy this weekend. The younger boys participate on a taekwondo performance team. We learned this past Wednesday that their team will be going to a national competition (which, thankfully) is only a few hours' drive away. Last night parents were required to attend the first part of practice. I am really glad that we got to hear the things the head of the school said with our own ears. There was some important safety information and (since we heard it direct), no risk of DH or I misinterpreting one of the boys when they relayed it to us. During the rest of the practice time, DH & I went to pick up a new watchband for him since his broke. Today, on our/my list: - graocery shopping
- DH & DS3 need (want) to go to tkd class. Normally, they'd go on Thursday but since DH was out of town, today it is.
- I have a Zoom with friends. We all live far, far away so we meet up once very month or two for a couple of hours. I will only be able to stay for part of the time today, but I still want to be sure to visit for a while. Zoom isn't ideal, but it's better than airline flights!
- There is a neighborhood get together this afternoon. That will be our dinner.
- We will leave the cmmunity dinner early to go to a contra dance tonight. DH loves these and we missed last month. For my part, I really love the band that is playing tonight. they are young people who are super creative as well as musical... and to be honest, they're also really nice people.
And tomorrow (drum roll)... We will make a drive to visit with my aunt who we haven't seen since preCOVID. She and her husband are snow birds. Their route home usually takes them through Alabama, but I guess they are only just getting back to their routine. DS3 and (I believe) DS2 will come along. DS1 will be busy riding in an ambulance taking care of people. (That sounds better than "He has to work" 😉). We will skip church tomorrow morning to get up there in time. The plan is to be back in time to get DS3 to youth group.

I've eaten, taken meds, weighed & checked blood sugar (not in that order). Going outside now to finish feeding the animals. Dh fed some but has headed into the second garden to work on the fence. Then I'll get in the first garden to squish whatever salt marsh caterpillars I see. There are literally thousands in our area. I squish the ones I find in the gardens since they'll eat the leaves. After that I'll watch dh put the fence up. I want to work on the quilt today. Didn't work on it yesterday since we were gone all day.
